Trees,
Tall and strong
But always unique.
Roots, hidden,
Reach deep down below the snow
Secretly, quietly
Drawing sustenance
Maintaining stability, groundedness
Slender, graceful branches
Reach upwards
“Take me as I am! This is who I am!”
is the tree’s mantra
Trees have unending faith
That everything that happens is for benefit
Even when storms come and branches break,
A tree is undaunted
Trees wear their scars with pride
Trees grow silently, imperceptibly
But, even fences can’t stop them
Trees accept their location
They never walk away from other trees
Some grow in clusters
And some grow alone,
But all are content with their placement
Trees, like silent observers,
Witness all seasons,
Winter, summer
Day, night,
Heat, cold
A tree accepts all
Trees are experienced,
Never affected by surprises
Becoming more beautiful with age,
Never bitter
Trees understand how to live in the present,
They never hold on to the past,
Although their internal rings
Contain the merged memories
Of many lives
The lovely tree, so powerful,
Yet beautiful,
Graceful yet strong,
Knows when it is time to let go
Of its seed
To allow a new sapling to emerge
Growing,
Ever silent,
Ever strong
