Emerson wrote once that everyone he met was in some way his superior, and in that way, he learns from them. And while I also experience that to be true, what I find more significant is this: that once in a great while I meet someone, or hear of someone, whose life inspires me to go deeper, way deeper, to discover inner resources I previously didn’t realize I had.
In my life, I feel most disheartened when I feel limited. But limitation is a false perception. I and every soul in existence have inner resources that are infinite, for souls are infinite. I’m infinite, you are infinite; we only have to realize it.
This morning I received an email about a man without any limbs. And though he doesn’t have limbs, the love and positive energy that come through him are so uplifting, that his severe physical limitations are secondary to the unlimitedness of his human spirit.
I have for over three decades now put an emphasis on how quickly I reach my spiritual goal. And yet I am still here, tied to the world, even though I long to be free of it.
I remember hearing a story told by Eruch Jessawala on one of my trips to India, that is also reprinted in his book, That’s How it Was, as part of a story he told he called Ask for Love. Here is what he said:
“But even if we can’t honestly long for love, we can long to long for love, That much is always open to us If our prayers for love are insincere and mechanical, we can at least pray to become more sincere when we pray. If we cannot run towards the Lord, at least we can walk, and if we cannot walk, we can crawl. And even if we cannot crawl, we can pray for the ability, someday, to be able to crawl. And we may find, to our surprise, that even crawling is not necessary, because the Lord Himself has come to us and is carrying us on His back.”
And so today when I came across the story of a man who radiates such love even though he can’t even crawl, I was reminded of Eruch’s story, and I wanted to share it with you.
Here is the video of Nick Vujicic:

I first saw this video about Nick Vujicic a couple of months ago and he is truly an amazing soul and very inspiring. He is a great person to give talks to teenagers. Wah!! I also recently saw a beautiful video called the 4 fingered piano player about a young Korean girl who only has two fingers on each hand and plays like a master. She is also amazing.
Spiritually, the way I am looking at this is, the soul who has traveled through many bodies, male and female through many cultures etc. has for some reason ended up in this birth in a body that certainly has its challenges. No limbs is challenging!! Understanding the law of karma and knowing that we always reap what we sow, I can look at this situation, without judgment, but seeing that the soul ended up in this body in this birth for a reason. The soul has just paid off a huge karmic debt and just as we all would understand the load which is lifted from the mind when we pay off a huge bill that we were owing for a long time, this soul has now become free. You might look at his (Nick’s) body and say that he is trapped, but no. He’s free!! He is now empowered because he has paid off his debt. Not all of it, but a big chunk of it. And by giving his talks to empower teenagers he is adding to his account of good karma. Wah!! What a soul!!
All of us do have to pay off our karmic debts. Every thought, word and action is accounted for. Right now, and even more so, within the next two years you are going to see many many people suffering in unimaginable situations as they pay off their karmic debts. Cancer galore, and every other disease. Heart attacks and accidents. All of it is karmic settlement. And………….it’s all good and necessary. Believe it or not. Maybe to you it sounds cold to hear me say that, but get yourself into a stage of soul consciousness and realize that we are all immortal, eternal, indestructible souls on a journey. The destination for souls is not far off and all the accounts have to be settled by then. Every soul has to become pure and clean. Souls with a pure heart, a clean heart, an honest heart and a generous heart attract God’s love. What does God like? God likes purity. Purity naturally brings peace and out of peace comes happiness.
People pray to God, as though God is some sort of giant vending machine, for health, to heal my sick child, to give me money, to give me a good job, to find me a wife, to stop someone from dying. This is totally wrong. It doesn’t work. God doesn’t work that way. The whole world of souls have a deeply imprinted memory in their consciousness that God came once and did something great and removed all their pain and suffering. That is true. But He does it collectively, not individually. He does it at this time when everybody (all the souls on the planet) is in deepest sorrow. He comes and removes everyone from their sorrow. He takes everyone into liberation collectively. Liberation means peace.
The best way to settle karma is through loving remembrance of God, but for that it is necessary to know who you are and who God is. Know yourself as a soul and not as the body.
