The Inner Garden

We all have within our being a sacred place where love is meant to flourish. It’s an inner garden.

For some, because there is such a lack of love, the ground is dry and hard as rock. Love has no chance to even take root. It’s like a seed thrown on a rock.

For others, there is limited love, but it cannot flourish, because there are so many weeds in the form of desires, demands, addictions, anger, lust, greed and attachments to the world’s allurements. If love does begin to grow in this environment, it soon finds itself strangled by the weeds. And this strangulation is the inner suffering that plagues so many people.

It’s amazing how long people can tolerate it. They suffer and suffer and it never occurs to them to pull out the weeds. That is the work that has to be done before the inner journey can begin — a journey where we begin to taste the sweetness of freedom from illusion and false values.

But for some, the ground has been prepared – the soil watered and the weeds have been pulled. This is when the inner life of the spirit can manifest. This is where seeds of love grow into a garden of bright colors, with fragrant flowers, and delicious fruit that not only satisfies one’s hunger, but quenches one’s thirst.

This isn’t the final goal. But this is where one becomes filled with the strength, energy and inspiration to seek the treasure of Infinite Knowledge, Power, and Bliss. And in this inner seeking comes the death to all imagined self-limitation, and the birth of Self-Realization — the experience of Infinite Knowledge, Power and Bliss.
