The Divine Presence

There is a Divine Presence. It can be most intensely felt in the realm of existence beyond the level of the gross senses — the inner world. This is the realm of subtle energy, inspiration, and illumination. This inner world is the gateway to the final goal, the only Real Existence — the Infinite Knowledge, Power and Bliss of the Divine.

The inner world of higher consciousness is more real than the world described every day by The New York Times. And it is more beautiful and enchanting than any exotic destination that a travel agency might try to entice you with.

This inner world is waiting for us all. But as any ship captain can tell you, before you proceed to a new port, you first have to pull up your anchor. Unfortunately, we are tied down to this world we live in and we don’t even realize it. We are entangled with it. That which is not important we put great importance on. The basketball playoffs, the elections, the gossip, the stock market, the scandals, the price of tea in China – it’s amazing the trivial things we focus our consciousness on. Life cannot be an adventure of the spirit as long as it is caught up in the soap opera of the mundane.

This Divine Presence exists in the heart of every person, regardless of that person’s religious affiliation, race, or economic status. The Divine Presence is the only reality. The significance of life is the opportunity to recognize this Divine Presence, embrace it, and find our identity in it.

This Divine Presence has always been with humanity. It is beyond limits and imagination. It is Infinite Intelligence, and as such, it’s role is to free us from the clutches of ignorance.

The use of the word “ignorance” here is not in reference to someone’s IQ. A high IQ is no protection from this ignorance. For this ignorance pertains to the conditioned mind and its habit of ascribing reality to that which is unreal. And because of this habit, which is really the ultimate in addictions, we have immense unlearning to do.

For the vast majority of us are asleep. But just ask anyone you meet on the street and they will swear they are awake.

We are merely dreaming a dream. These are dreams of success and failure, good and bad, right and wrong, happy and sad, healthy and sick, beautiful and ugly, young and old, rich and poor, stupid and smart.

This is the domain of duality. The world of opposites. The world of separation and ego gratification. But in the final analysis, it is a world of delusion. A world of finite imagination.  However, a world of infinite imagination is waiting to unravel us from our finite thinking and usher us into the final realm of the Infinite that is beyond all imagination.

In this world of illusion we sometimes get glimpses into the world beyond duality. When we start to get glimpses of  this, where joy is not dependent upon a political outcome or the amount of money we make in a year, or the cars we drive, or the outcome of the Super Bowl, it is a sign that the Divine Presence is stirring within us. This is an opportunity. Perhaps a once in a lifetime opportunity. Don’t let it slip away. The tumblers in the lock have fallen into place. It is time to open the door to the treasure of the Infinite. It is waiting patiently.

The Divine Presence is everywhere. And yet it remains hidden. It’s a vibrational frequency beyond the perception of what we can hear or see. The only way to behold it is to become more and more attuned to its frequency. That is what spiritual illumination is – the ability to perceive face to face the Divine Presence.

How to become one with the vibration of the Divine Presence? By remembering it always. In everyone you meet, know that the Divine Presence is within them, silently working to awaken them to the reality of the higher dimension of being. Even people whose lives seem to be the personification of failure are being led blindfolded to a point of no return. For a time comes for us all when we get tired of the never-ending oscillation of opposites. A time comes when we finally wake up and know that we must be more than an oscillating pattern of ups and downs. A time comes for each of us, when we want to know deep within, who we really are.

Our essence is formlessness. We are consciousness endeavoring to know ourselves as such. In reality we are infinite and eternal. When we identify with the consciousness that sustains us instead of the form that is only a vehicle of its expression, we become more and more attuned to the higher vibrations. As we become more and more attuned to the higher vibration, inner perception becomes keener. Heightened perception, the discernment of the false and the real, is an opportunity to let go of the lower so that we can reach for the higher. You could call it the abandonment of illusion for Reality.

This is when we expand our awareness. This is when love has a chance to take root in the heart. This is the thinning of the veils of consciousness. This is when inner communication with the Divine Presence becomes clear and intimate. When this happens to you, rest assured that you are on the high road of all roads of inner development.
