I got a call last night from my daughter, who is a student at the University of Maryland. She told me about a book that I might want to read, entitled, “The Last Lecture.” It’s a book by Dr. Randy Pausch, a 46-year-old Carnegie Mellon Professor of Computer Science, who is dying of pancreatic cancer.
The book expands upon his lecture of September 18, 2007, which was billed as “The Last Lecture. Here is the video of that lecture:
Dr. Pausch explains his philosophy of approaching death: “We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand.” This lecture is life affirming. It’s about overcoming obstacles and achieving childhood dreams.
What would be your parting words to the world? Would it be of love and hope, or sorrow and lost hopes? Perhaps we need to search deep within us to find for ourselves what life means to us. To find the purpose we give it.
He said he gave that lecture for his children. It was a wonderful gift they will always have – a life affirming gift of love, of courage, and of spirit.
We all should be so lucky that we can leave something behind so beautiful for those we love.

This was an interesting videos very motivating and inspirational. The DR. was a great presence about him even with his disposition.
Great example of leading a life that means something to yourself and setting an example.
Glad I watched it.
