Unparalleled suffering leads to unparalleled spiritual freedom. It is no different than a surgeon performing a painful surgery to give relief to the patient. God's main concern, therefore, is not if we suffer or not, but whether we keep ourselves present in His presence.

The greatest advanced spiritual seekers got to their station on the spiritual through suffering. Look at Upasni Mabharaj, Sai Baba of Shirdi, St. Francis of Assissi, Theresa of Avila. They all suffered tremendously.

In my life, it was intense suffering that led me to Meher Baba. And as he says, suffering is never in vain.

Then when the Bible says, Above all else I want you healthy and prosperous is a lie. We are told to turn to God for help, to pray for everything and yet God just sits there. If he is NOT going to keep his promises, if he is not going to do anything..Then why should we praise, and follow him? That's like owning a business and being swamped with work and hiring some help, only they just sit and watch you toil, and tell you where to move a box or what order needs filled, but they do Nothing to help but still expect paid! It is a cruel God who claims to love us, and lets us be hurt and miserable again and again and again and does NOTHING to help change the situation to ease the pain. If I need Guidance I will see a social worker...I need miracles not lies and false hope!

I'm like TrialJunkie too. I tell people to do good things and help others, but still, there's evil in the world. I just fucking hate it. I don't think God is merciful or even there when the person is suffering or dying, He could've prevented that. Some say that God allowing evil is like gettin a shot as a kid, that's just fuckin bullshit. God's son Jesus supposedly saved the whole world from destruction, but instead, brought more misery.

I used to believe that God was loving and generous and that the reason for all the innocent people that are suffering would be revealed in time. But now I'm like the author of the article. God IS mean, stingy, and cruel.

It's hard to believe that someone cares for you when they ignore you when you cry out to them for help and when they take everything beautiful away from you piece by piece. I think the devil has way more power than God because the devil always gets his way. If I go out and knock an old lady down and take her purse, I'll walk away with some money. If I beg God to give me a job so that I can do honest work, I'm simply wasting my breath and my time. Believe me, I know! I have been unemployed since the company I was working for for years downsized. I lost my wife. And yesterday somebody actually stole my dog right out of my yard and that was the only companion that I have. I have been volunteering in prisons and children's hospitals for 5 years, not asking for a single dime in return and just trying to help people because that is what I believed God wants me to do. In return, God took everything away from me and ignored every single one of my prayers. You can look anywhere in the world and all you will see is God's stinginess and cruelty. I never thought I would get to this point, but after 2 years of praying and hoping, I just can't go any further. God is so stingy. He owns everything that we lay our eyes on, yet won't even give people food to eat and a place to lay their heads at night.

I appreciate and understand the point of your article. But in my personal opinion I don't believe think it's a good way to approach people who are desperately hurting. It will drive them away.

Jesus is my personal God. He suffered for us. Which means he has a pretty good idea of what it means to suffer. Which leads me to believe that his answers would be more empathetic. He even thought so while he was on the cross dying. He cried: "My God, My God why have you forsaken me?!"

I can't say I will ever know what love means in its entirety. God is love and God is mysterious. Being "mysterious" doesn't necessarily imply being all around agreeable or nice. Do I believe God is cruel? Honestly, sometimes. Do I believe his intentions are? No.

I do know one thing for a fact though: God loves people who are suffering to death. He is closest to those who are brokenhearted. It's really painful to try to understand why God allows what he does, but this is a good way to see it: Those people are his greatest works of art. They will prosper and reap benefits because of that faithfulness in the next life.

God understands it's hard for us. He understands what it means to suffer and he understands our feelings which is the point of the following poem.

(Footprints In The Sand)

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed
he was walking along the beach with the Lord.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of
footprints in the sand: one belonging
to him, and the other to the Lord.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.

He noticed that many times along the path of
his life there was only one set of footprints.

He also noticed that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he
questioned the LORD about it:

"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow
you, you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when
I needed you most you would leave me."

The Lord replied:

"My son, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."

P.S, to Nunya,
I must say God's job isn't even to give you strength and courage. God is there and you can connect to that pure being of light and might, purity and power and draw your strength and courage, (which is really just recognizing that you already had it all along, but had forgotten it due to the belief that you are a limited body and not an unlimited soul). God has complete unlimited love for you, but is also totally detached, which means that God doesn't take one trace of sorrow from anything you do, say or think. God also isn't trying to bail you out of anything. You're in a hole which you got yourself into, in this birth and also from past births. God is totally detached about that fact. But He is always radiating unconditional love to you all the time, just like the sun shines down it's rays, but doesn't worry about whether or not anyone takes them. Some people equate detachment with not caring, but actually the opposite is true. Because God doesn't want anything from you, you are free to take from Him or not. As you wish. You are free to perform your own karmic actions as you wish. And often we have performed some really wrong karma, not even realizing that it was really wrong. Whenever you are in taking mode, taking sorrow, stealing energy, you are creating bad karmic consequence. God doesn't punish you, your own actions punish you.

To change focus on seeing virtues in everyone and everything. Transform negative into positive. It's never too late.

The whole world is in a bad way. Everyone is taking rather than giving. How can peace come like this? God has a plan that no one expects. It's very simple. Purify the entire world and send all the souls home to the land of peace, to the world of souls. Become peaceful in knowing that this is coming and change yourself. It's time for change. It's time for love. It's time to banish fear. It's time to realize yourself as a soul, and not as a body. It's time to let go of the past. It's time to become a truly giving soul and benefit others, but first to start with the self.

It's time to realize that God has come and we souls all have to return to our peaceful home.

Lots of love and blessings from the heart,
Carol

Dear Nunya,
It's unfortunate that you are feeling so much pain and sorrow in your life. Life isn't meant to be pain and sorrow. The world was created in perfection and beauty, peace, purity and happiness for all souls. At that time there was a very small population. As the population grew gradually things degraded. Souls moved from soul consciousness into body consciousness, from pure love to fear. Today the world is a karmic mess, but it's not God's fault. Human beings created the mess by living their lives in the consciousness of fear. Fear begets more fear. Taking and begging creates more and more a sense of emptiness. Giving creates fullness. But giving has to be done with no strings attached and it has to be done on the thought level as well as the physical level.

To change your life it will require a huge shift in consciousness, from negative to positive, from hopeless to hopeful. I don't know if you can find the strength to do it right now, but even if you can do it a little bit you will find your life changing. And just know that the whole world is in the same state as you are in right now, but there will soon be a big shift. You can find God, but religion has distorted human beings perception of God. You have to open yourself up to find God and you need to be humble. God is here right now and is here for you, but not through religion, (unless that is the way you have to go and it doesn't sound like it for you). A lot of souls have become disheartened by religion. Try not to defame God because you are closing doors of your own heart by doing that.

God can't find you a job no matter how much you beg Him. That's not His job. His job is to give you strength and courage so that you can go out and find a job.

Take care and good luck with your life.
Love and peace,
Carol

God can’t find you a job no matter how much you beg Him. That’s not His job. His job is to give you strength and courage so that you can go out and find a job.

Take care and good luck with your life.
Love and peace,
Carol

The Lord our God is mean. He is not fair nor is he just. I have been kneeling and praying to him for most of my life. I am a simple man and and have only asked for a good job to take care of my family. I have gotten great paying jobs on my own merit, only to be laid off. this has happened many times. I have only been left to scratch and claw to pay the bills until I could get the next job. I have been at the foot of my bed praying to the Lord so many times, going over all the scripture I have learned, and read the bible for the faith to go on. The Lord has only fed me scraps and made me beg and claw. My faith has finally run out and I won't pray or ask for forgiveness any longer. The religious zealots will have something to say I'm sure, but they, as well as the lord can kiss my ass too.
