A holistic health lifestyle is a lifestyle dedicated to wellness, achieved with awareness and conscious choices. If you are living such a lifestyle you are someone who enjoys taking charge of your health. You don’t take it for granted. You cultivate all aspects of your life-the spiritual, the physical, the mental, and the emotional.
Energy flows through all of it. Your immune system is much more likely to be stronger than someone who is not pursuing health holistically. The reason is that the vibrational energy that flows through your physical body is much faster and higher and more conducive to life. That is the essence of vibrational medicine.
I became committed to holistic health after traditional medicine left my body in a state of ruin. Furthermore, I was told that my health would progressively get worse as the years passed by. I wasn’t left much choice.
The drugs they prescribed were affecting my liver, kidneys, skin and bones. After I realized that I had other options in alternative medicine, I took advantage of them. My health rebounded. My so-called chronic condition was no more than a chronic attitude. That was my personal example of learning lessons from an illness.
What was supposed to be a debilitating lifelong condition left me and has never returned. I’ve had no symptoms for 28 years now. I had what is called Crohn’s Disease. If you know someone with this incredibly painful condition, let them know that alternative medicine with vitamin therapy and whole grain foods can turn it around. I had a severe case and I overcame it. If you like, tell the person to e-mail me. I’ll offer some words of encouragement.
If you are inclined towards a holistic health lifestyle, chances are you are happier, fit, more content, and you don’t have destructive addictions such as drinking, smoking, or drugs. Your life is or will soon be functioning on a synergistic level. That is, your emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual realms of being are in harmony with each other. The more harmony the less stress. And the less stress you have the more healthy and energetic you will be.
If you want to incorporate holistic health consciousness into your life, then it is you who will take the responsibility for being healthy and making all the decisions that impact your health. Do you take vitamins? It’s your decision. Do you follow a vegetarian diet? That too will be up to you. How much do you exercise?
When you are living life as a holistic person, the insights, motivations, discipline, and inspiration come from within you. You can have a doctor as an advisor, but you are the CEO and the ultimate decision maker. If you agree with your health care professional that you will benefit from organic foods, exercise, vitamins, herbs, meditation, and mindfulness, then it is up to you to find the time to incorporate all of these recommendations into your life.
You don’t make these decisions in the dark, however. You educate yourself on these topics. If a naturopathic physician makes a recommendation, read the research. You want to be excited about your approach to health. If you are told to take gotu kola daily, find out why.
If you are convinced that a regimen is correct, the more likely you are to follow it and the more likely it is to be effective. Don’t follow the advice unless you feel that it is the right advice. The more knowledge you have, the more health conscious you will become. When it comes to holistic health, ignorance is not bliss. It only leads to disease and death.
The people who have holistic health consciousness are aware of healthy lifestyles. They know when to buy organic. They understand the importance of nutrition, exercise, relaxation, and spirituality. They themselves are the only people who can make the commitment to live the holistic lifestyle. It has to have meaning for them.
Holistic health is much more than just the absence of illness. It’s a feeling of aliveness and energy. It means waking up in the morning eager to live another day and to live life at its fullest.
Always remember that holistic health means the health of the whole. If one aspect of your self, whether it is the physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual, seems out of balance to you, you need to attend to that part of you or else the other parts of you will suffer.
For example, if your spiritual life is in a rut, your energy will be lower. Your motivation will also be lower. You might be more prone to creating an addiction to replace the aliveness and fulfillment you received in your spiritual life. Your priorities will be affected. Your perception of what is important will also be off base.
All of these side effects will likely cause stress, emotional upset, loss of clarity in thought, loss of sleep, and a weakened immune system. In essence, a loss of focus in spiritual life affects the physical, mental, and emotional.
Bring awareness into all phases of your life. What brings you inner peace? What disturbs your inner peace? What gives you energy? What dissipates your energy? What makes you happy? What makes you sad?
Does your work cause you stress or does it bring you satisfaction and happiness? Which people in your life bring you joy? Which ones bring you sorrow? What food agrees with you? What food makes it hard for you to sleep or stay awake? Are you in the same shape as a year before or are you in better shape?
Asking yourself these type of questions can enable you to alter your life so that it works–spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically. Life is to be enjoyed–not endured.
If you discover that you could benefit from vitamins, then take vitamins. If you find a therapy, like acupuncture, that helps you to feel better, then do that. But don’t lose sight that you are a whole person. Just because you successfully treated a symptom, don’t lose sight of the spiritual, emotional, and mental aspects that comprise the rest of you. Holistic health requires it.
