Moving beyond ordinary is as simple as choosing to do so. We need to abandon the world of finite imagination and begin the process of infinite imagination. Just because we lived life a certain way yesterday, and the day before that doesn’t mean that we are limited in our choices to living it the same way again today and tomorrow.
We attract into our life what we focus on. Forget the ordinary and the way things have always been in the past. This is now. There are no limits on the now. The more you can embrace the now, the more infinite the possibilities and the more freedom you have from the conditioning of your mind, which is rooted in the past.
It is only the conditioning of the mind that creates the limitation, divisions, and conflicts. And it is the conditioned mind that blames others for our own shortcomings.
As long as a man backbites and blames the world for his state of being, that is where he will stay. The Universal Law of Attraction stipulates that we attract what we think about. By focusing on the weaknesses and faults of others we are attracting their weaknesses and faults into our lives. Some people gain a pseudo sense of superiority by contrasting themselves to others whom they have put down with criticism and ridicule. That is a recipe for staying stuck in a rut.
Try this: instead of looking at the limitations of people, look at their possibilities. Dare to be so great that these people will follow your lead and example into the same higher levels of energy. Don’t judge them–inspire them. This will create positive energy in your life. We are all infinite possibilities. We only need to discover it-in our self, and in others.
The difference between the person functioning at the highest levels of life and the person functioning at mediocre levels is the level of energy illuminating the mind. To live in the realm of infinite possibilities is to live in the higher domain of energy. And this energy attracts more of that energy, more of the infinite possibilities. To live in the world of doubts and limitation is to live in the domain of the lower energies, which tend to attract more doubts and limitation. It’s a choice that is as clear as the difference between light and darkness.
To seek the infinite possibilities of human life opens centers of consciousness that were previously lying dormant. Inspiration becomes available. Life conspires to make the impossible a reality. (If you look closely at the miracle of life, you will see manifestations of the impossible everywhere you look.) Helpers appear out of nowhere. Internal obstacles like lethargy, doubt, and indecision no longer obstruct the flow of energy–they are suspended like the silt in a strong river current. But beware–where the current is not as strong, the bulk of the silt forms islands–diverting the flow of the river. Likewise, in your personal quest for the higher expression of life, when your effort slackens, the inner obstacles will reassert themselves again.
Emerson said, “If I have lost confidence in myself, I have the universe against me.” What he means by that is that when he is out of alignment with his higher forces of energy, he is no longer working with the universe, but against it. He is no longer in harmony with the expansive power of the universe. When he is no longer in harmony with the universe, he is basically being resistant to it, saying “No.”
Again it boils down to the Law of Attraction. The universe doesn’t disappoint. If you think you can, you can. If you think you can’t, then you can’t.
So how does one get into harmony with the universe and transcend the ordinary? You do it by embracing in your life the energies that are most conducive to life-love, harmony, peace, unity, creativity, compassion, and empathy. And you do it by avoiding the energies that are destructive of life–fear, shame, anger, hatred, greed, fragmentation. Being in harmony with the higher energies allow them to expand in you, to grow in you like seeds in favorable soil. The Law of Attraction tells us that like seeks like. As above, so below.
By embracing the higher energies you will become the oasis in the desert that life seeks. The universe will no longer work against you, but with you. Life becomes a thrilling game of expansion and moving beyond limits. When you wake in the morning, you no longer think of all the things you have to do, but of all of the exciting possibilities you can do.
One of the characteristics of this type of life that can be a challenge is ambiguity. People like security. They tend to fear the unknown. They want to know where their next paycheck is coming from. But don’t fear ambiguity–embrace it.
Like Columbus, if you are seeking the infinite possibilities of life, you are sailing into unknown waters. You have to be willing to die to the old ways of living and embrace the new ways. Looking into the future becomes very disorienting because it is not nearly as predictable as it was in the past. And the reason it is not as predictable is because you are not as predictable. In the past you followed a script. Now you follow your intuition and your bliss.
It’s like the classically trained musician who is asked to improvise a solo with jazz musicians. He has to look within to find the music and the inspiration. He can no longer look out onto sheet music dictating to him what to play. He is being asked to be the creator and mastermind. If he can trust his inner resources, he will succeed. He will create improvised music that will uplift not only the other musicians and the audience, but also himself. Every moment becomes a new moment of self-discovery.
Moving beyond the ordinary is to stop playing the notes written by somebody else, and instead, start paying heed to what you hear within. Follow the dictates of your heart. Be true to yourself. Otherwise, there is no sense in being here. And what kind of life is that?
